Can someone who quit high school in Texas return to finish?
A friend ( 19 yrs old ) wants to graduate ( not GED ) in Texas. She said she is only lacking three classes. Is this possible, I guess I could call the school ( in Austin ) but that would be to easy! Ha

Yes, she can finish her diploma, though maybe not at her former high school, but through an adult education program. One web site that offers distance learning, which is really convenient if you have access to the Internet, is: http://austin.about.com/od/adulteducation She may need to pay some fees, but she might be able to qualify for some state financial help. Good luck.

Tell her to forget about high school. Take the GED, and enroll in a Junior College. An Associate of Arts or Bachelor of Arts diploma will be much better to have on her CV. No one cares about high school.

Is University of Texas at Arlington a difficult school?
Is University of Texas at Arlington a difficult school?
My daughter wants to go to this school. She is pretty much "in" but we're waiting on the formal letter. Does anyone know how difficult this school is overall? Is it easier, so to speak, than University of texas at Austin, or is it just easier to get into? Thanks for ANY info you can give me on this school.

The curriculums of both schools are the same, as they are run under the same administrations. The only variations between the schools would be the personal teaching styles of the teachers, but nothing else would be different. Hope this helped. Information taken from the University of Texas website.

Im 15 years old and live in Austin Texas any jobs out there I can get?
Hi, I have really been wanting to save up for a new computer, and well school is almost out in about 8 days for me and well I don't really know much of the places here since I just moved to the Austin area from Chicago. I don't really know any one here so I can't just pop up into some random neighbor I don't even know and say Can I baby sit your kids for money or mow your lawn for extra cash. It would be pretty weird. So if anyone that has any places were theres open jobs here in Austin then gladly message me and well help me out here ? I just want a part time job that pays so so If you need to know my zip code its 78749 City/Austin, state/Texas. If you need more information then message me and thanks to whoever helps me out.

You gave way to much information already over the Internet .. Personal information is a NO NO, especially being 15. Work on your school and when your 18, then think about the job. GL

Why settle for just a job that pays so-so? Why not take an interest test? They are available at most community colleges. Once you know what would light your fire, find a business in that field and ask them if you could apprentice there over the summer. The pay WOULD probably be so-so, but there is also the chance for college credit in that field, maybe even a career opportunity for when you graduate high school. You seem pretty articulate. You shouldn't have any trouble at all finding a placement. If you lived in Roswell, I'd hire you in a minute, to promote my text messaging business. Be sure to ask the guidance counselor at your school how to go about getting a work permit. It will open doors for you. Best wishes!

Is UT Austin a really good school to get into?
I keep hearing that UT Austin is a really smart school and hard to get into, I go to UTD by the way, I was accepted to Austin but didn't want to go so far, is it true that it is the best school in texas like a lot of people say?

I got into UTSA with no problem. I think it all has to do with how well they think you'll do as a student. And Austin is a cool town so lots of kids want to go there. All schools have their good and bad qualities.
2
Yes its a really good school to get into. Best school? I would say yes since it is definitely the most well known, and recognition attracts the best professors. With that being said, i remember reading somewhere that the average SAT scores of incoming freshman to UTD were higher than any other public texas university. A lot of reason that may be is because of the top 10% rule, a ton of people with amazing grades get turned away because spots are being filled by people with 3.4 GPA's who just so happened to go to a crappy high school which put them in the top 10% of said crappy high school. BTW i also went to UTD for EE, but transferred to UT Austin for Aerospace Engineering because EE was so boring it was driving me insane lol.

university of texas of course! longhorns all the way!

Primary, secondary or the college level? If you want your kids to get a great education in Austin, try and get into the Eanes School District. The high school in that district has made Newsweek's top 100 public high schools in the Nation, several times.

At least she asked about Austin. The kids in Round Rock are being home schooled, which is why they read at a 3rd grade level. Don't let the test scores fool you... the RR schools are doing great because none of the stupid Round Rock kids are actually enrolled.

Which Big Texas City Houston, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio is the cheapest but nicest city to live as bartender?
I am single and looking for a fresh start, I am interested in Texas...I like Austin but heard that it's more expensive, but what if you move just a little bit outside of town. I am planning on going to a bartending school in texas, getting a job and living there...so any help would be great.

if you live downtown it can be expensive, but it is cheaper than downtowns in other areas. i can personally tell you that it is cheaper here than in dallas, and i have never heard anyone else say it was more expensive here than elsewhere in texas
2
San Antonio is cheap to live in and because it's a tourist town Bartending is a great way to make money. Austin and Dallas can be pricey to live in and Houston just plain sucks...I've lived in all four so I have expereince in each. To clarify, Austin is not expensive compare to New York and Los Angeles, but it is one of the most expensive cities in Austin, property wise and since the question was what Texas city was cheapest, Austin would not be the answer.
3
I don't think Austin is expensive at all. I guess it is all relative. Compared to anywhere in New York, California, or Florida, living in Austin is dirt cheap. http://www.centralproperties.com

San Antonio is far cheaper than the bigger towns and more affordable when you can buy a house. You can always drive to Austin for the music and film festivals.

No, Austin ISD schools do not require students to wear uniforms. In fact, very few of the private schools in Austin require students to wear uniforms. I hope this helps.
