I keep hearing that UT Austin is a really smart school and hard to get into, I go to UTD by the way, I was accepted to Austin but didn't want to go so far, is it true that it is the best school in texas like a lot of people say?

I got into UTSA with no problem. I think it all has to do with how well they think you'll do as a student. And Austin is a cool town so lots of kids want to go there. All schools have their good and bad qualities.

Yes its a really good school to get into. Best school? I would say yes since it is definitely the most well known, and recognition attracts the best professors. With that being said, i remember reading somewhere that the average SAT scores of incoming freshman to UTD were higher than any other public texas university. A lot of reason that may be is because of the top 10% rule, a ton of people with amazing grades get turned away because spots are being filled by people with 3.4 GPA's who just so happened to go to a crappy high school which put them in the top 10% of said crappy high school. BTW i also went to UTD for EE, but transferred to UT Austin for Aerospace Engineering because EE was so boring it was driving me insane lol.
