Hey fellow Longhorn! All I know is that switching into the business school is pretty difficult, but perhaps possible. Especially since you're out of state, you might want to go to the website and e-mail some of the advisors about your situation. They can give you a more exact answer. What college are you in right now? Good luck getting in!!! Hook 'em!

You can transfer into McCombs after one year if your gpa is above the internal transfer cutoff. Typically that's about 3.6, which is relatively high but should be doable if you work hard. You also need to take calculus, economics, and a foreign language before you transfer. You can read all about the requirements for an internal transfer on the website. Your major doesn't matter, just be sure to get good grades in your classes and you'll be in.

McCombs School of Business is highly competitive and extremely tough for non-Texas applicants. Check the transfer website on McCombs School of Business website for more info. Just a note, the average GPA is around a 3.85 for transfers. Do a Liberal Arts major which would get you in the right direction for becoming a business major at UT-Austin.

You should start off in Liberal Arts-its the easiest to get into!
