it's a huge school and i was wondering if most of the guys are rednecks. i'm from california and i just moved to Texas and planning on transferring to UT. i heard austin is kind of San Francisco but the people in the school are rednecks and racist. <<<how does that even happen is this true?

No none of them. It's a very diverse school, very liberal, and in a big city. There are people of all races and kinds (LOTS of Asians) and pretty much no one here has an accent. It's a great school especially if you don't know what to major in b/c it has a lot of well-rounded departments. ...and yea your question of "how does that happen if it's true?" is right, it's not true, nobody is racist, a redneck, or even very conservative, this is the Berkley of the South. I have no idea who told you that but they are pretty dumb! (They might have been referring to Texas A&M)

They may be a little redneck. But, have not heard too much concerning racial issues.
